Kozyfone

KozyFone is a smartphone charging station that intentionally helps children maintain their sleep health. It was designed in collaboration with a child psychologist to help young smartphone owners develop better, more mindful bedtime habits with their technology.

Kozyfone was developed around the insight that children have an increasingly difficult time putting their phones away around bedtime - the blue light from devices has a particularly negative impact on their developing brains

The intention of Kozyfone is to create new, positive habits of putting smartphones out of sight + out of mind (outside of the bedroom) for younger users, rather than relying solely on discipline and negative reinforcement

An universal induction charger in the back of the product powers all recent phone models at night so they can recharge while their users do, too

The product's sliding front face allows devices of a variety of sizes to be easily fit inside

The microfiber cloth 'bedding' can be swapped out with velcro attachments, and also keeps the phone pressed against the charger, as well as cleans the phone screen when the device is removed

Kozyfone comes along with the client's guide to healthy sleeping habits, developed as part of her child psychology practice

Evolution of iterative prototyping to develop Kozyfone - from scrappy cardboard models to fully functional models with 3D printed + sewed, as well as sourced parts

The core itent of the product is to promote the development of better sleeping routines and relationships with technology
